Dorking Cricket Club
Dorking Cricket Club was SGEMs’ first client. having played for them for many years, this is where I started in Sportsground mainainence. starting off by simply sweeping the pitches after a match when I was about 12 years old. I then moved on to helping the groundsman at the time with more technical aspects of the industry. from using the machinery to marking out the lines and ensuring all was correct for the game.
DCC play at two grounds, a mere stones throw away from each other. The 1st and 2nd XI play at Pixham Lane, Whereas the 3rd and 4th XI play at westhumble. They Also have a fairly substantial colts section that covered a massive range of age groups. The younger ages play at westhumble on dedicated grass squares! as well as the youngest ages occasionally playing on a grass pitch at Pixham when diary gets a little full. the old age groups play on the main square at Pixham Lane.
Pixham’s square, comprises of 12 grass pitches and is built on Ongar loam.
Westhumble’s main square comprises of 9 pitches and the two junior squares, 3 each. and are all on Surrey Loam.
